Our project types include providing decision support through insights and analytics for new product planning, launch strategy, portfolio / disease area strategy, and organizational strategy / change management. Most of our work is in specialty therapeutics, with oncology and rare diseases a specific area of expertise.
Blue Matter Insights (BMI) is our specialized insights CoE, uniquely combining sophisticated quantitative analytics with strategic pharmaceutical consulting. BMI consultants work side-by-side with strategy team members on high-stakes client engagements. As a Consultant / Senior Consultant in the Analytics practice, you are a functional expert who designs and delivers analytics-based solutions to complex client needs. You bring deep technical skill, commercial judgment, and the confidence to speak the truth through data, guiding teams and clients toward decisions grounded in evidence.
Primary Responsibilities
Client Delivery & Analytical Solutions
Design and execute sophisticated analytical solutions across the product lifecycle, including forecasting (early-stage through post-launch), commercial modeling & market assessments, market access analytics, marketing analytics and field operations analysis
Develop and apply advanced statistical models and techniques (e.g., segmentation, regression, conjoint analysis, scenario simulation) to inform commercial decision-making
Lead the development of analytical frameworks, dashboards, and tools that enable clients to make data-driven decisions
Structure and synthesize complex datasets from 3rd-party sources (IQVIA, Komodo, Veeva, MMIT, claims/EMR data) and internal client databases to generate actionable insights
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences
Develop high-quality client deliverables including presentations, written reports, and executive summaries
Present analyses and strategic recommendations to client teams, articulating commercial implications with clarity and confidence
Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to ensure analytical workstreams align with overall project objectives and timelines
Problem-Solving & Quality
Apply structured problem-solving to decompose ambiguous business challenges into executable analytical plans
Identify key insights, opportunities, and risks that inform corporate and commercial strategies—always anchoring findings in the “so what”
Own analytical rigor and quality control end-to-end throughout the project lifecycle
Proactively identify opportunities to enhance BMI’s analytical approaches, tools, and methodologies
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
Mentor and coach Associates and Associate Consultants on analytical techniques, project execution, and professional development
Contribute to BMI’s analytical capabilities through knowledge sharing, training sessions, and best practice development
Support recruitment efforts and participate in candidate assessment
Desired Experience & Skills
Technical & Domain Expertise
Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical quantitative modeling and commercial analytics
Proficiency with core 3rd-party datasets (provider unit data, payer access data, analog sales data)
Advanced analytical skills including statistical modeling, forecasting, and financial modeling
Proficiency with analytical tools (Python, R, SQL, SAS) and visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI)
Communication & Problem-Solving
Ability to translate raw data into impactful client presentations with actionable, strategically grounded insights
Excellent communication skills across internal and client-facing contexts
Demonstrated ability to integrate business and industry knowledge into creative analytical solutions
Comfort navigating ambiguity and managing competing priorities across multiple workstreams
Qualifications
Advanced degree preferred (PhD, MD, MBA, or MS) in a quantitative field, life sciences, or business
4–7 years of quantitative analytical experience, preferably in life sciences consulting or the pharmaceutical industry (Consultant: 4-6 years, Senior Consultant: 5-7 years)
Demonstrated career progression and increasing ownership of client deliverables
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $130,000 – $190,000 per year. Generous incentive compensation structure.
